Basic Beef Short Ribs 

Prep Time: 15 mins ~ Cook Time: 2-3 Hours

Ingredients

  • 1 pound beef short ribs
  • Pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 onion, sliced, you may use dried onion (optional)
  • 1 clove garlic minced (optional)
  • 1 tsp of tomato paste
  • 1 (12 fluid ounce) bottle stout beer
  • 1 cup beef stock

Directions

  1. Season ribs with pepper. Dredge in flour until coated; shake off excess.
  2. Heat butter in the pan or crockpot you are cooking with. Cook ribs until browned, about 5 minutes per side. Remove ribs & set aside.
  3. Add onion & garlic to the crockpot or pan; cook & stir until onion is tender, about 5 minutes. Return ribs to the pot. Pour in beer while scraping the browned bits of food off the bottom of the pan. Pour in beef stock & add tomato paste.
  4. Cover & simmer over low heat until ribs are very tender, about 2-3 hours.
